As we get ready for Ugly Whale Music Fest in 2017, we are looking for some great music-related companies to sponsor our event. This is a great opportunity to put your brand in front of thousands of people on one of the busiest nights in downtown Austin. We already have an evening showcase confirmed for Thursday March 16 at Darwin’s Pub, and can acquire another day time showcase as well.
We have two sponsorship levels available:
MOBY DICK: $5,000
FREE WILLY: $2,500
Please see our Sponsor Deck for more details!
I wanted to give a BIG THANKS to RedGorilla Music Festival, Darwin’s Pub, Sit Kitty Sit, Citabria, The Go Ahead, Eyes on the Shore, and Dangermaker for making the 2nd #UglyWhaleFest magical! Can’t wait for next year’s showcase! #youcantfakeawesome
Ugly Whale Fest #2 is Thursday March 16 at Darwin’s Pub! We’re excited to have the same venue as last year since Darwin’s has a great stage, a strategic location in the middle of buzzing 6th Street, and an awesome staff. Personally I feel like Darwin’s has become home to Ugly Whale and plan to hold showcases there every year if I can.
I am proud to announce an extremely talented line-up featuring Bay Area favorites Dangermaker, Eyes on the Shore, The Go Ahead, Citabria, and Sit Kitty Sit! We can’t wait to rock Darwin’s on St. Patrick’s Day, showing the music hungry Austin audience what amazing artists the Bay Area has!
Please RSVP on Do512.com, Eventbrite, and/or Facebook to let us know you’re coming!
Ugly Whale Music Fest is underway for 2016! We are in process of securing one to two showcases in Austin during SXSW week. We already have Citabria, Eyes on the Shore, The Go Ahead, Sit Kitty Sit, and The Trims confirmed. If two showcases are confirmed, there will be an additional 5 or more slots open for booking. Stay tuned for more details as they come!
We are also looking for a Sponsor to help out with the buy-in costs. If you know a music and/or tech company that wants some great SXSW exposure, please let me know.
I apologize for the delayed update, but a lot has happened since the SUCCESSFUL Austin debut!
Not only did all five band do an amazing job, but I received a lot of wonderful feedback from the fans, venue, staff, etc. Looks like there will be another Ugly Whale Fest next year in Austin, possibly even two. I’m so excited, I can’t even express to you how much!
If it wasn’t for so many generous and supportive people, I would not have surpassed my goal, so I would like to thank each and every one of you for donating from the bottom of my heart. It was truly wonderful to see so many people believe in Bay Area music and help expose Austin to talented bands. Please give yourself a hand for making all this possible!
I am honored to be part of such an amazing and talented music community and will keep working hard to get these bands heard.
We are so excited that one week from today we are debuting five amazing Bay Area bands in Austin!
Here is the line-up with set times:
9pm: The Go Ahead
10pm: Eyes on the Shore
11pm: The Frail
12am: The Trims
1am: Beautiful Machines
We look forward to seeing you at Darwin’s Pub and making a huge impression on the Austin audience!
There’s also 7 days left in our Kickstarter Campaign to raise the buy-in value for our showcase, so if you haven’t donated yet, now’s your chance to help us out to meet our goal.
To get Ugly Whale off the ground, Barb Rocks has bought into a popular venue in Austin for $3500. In order to recoup that cost and to grow Ugly Whale into a travelling showcase, Barb Rocks launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise monies. This campaign ends the morning of March 19th and is currently only 70% funded, so we need your help! If you’re a supporter of music, especially unsigned Bay Area music, please donate what you can and spread the word. There’s many cool music related rewards you can choose from, especially from the bands playing the Austin showcase, as well as from the bands Barb Rocks manages, and some cool life style rewards like Winery Tour, Chess, Bocce Ball, and Dinner Parties.
